WHO WE ARE

THE DEVELOPMENT ROOM provides story and project development for film and selected TV projects at script and early development stage.

We work with writers, producers and creative teams to develop scripts, refine concepts, and shape projects for further development and production. Our focus is on story, structure and project clarity.

Services include development-led script editing, story and project development, pitch and presentation development, and creative advisory. This includes preparing and refining pitch decks, written materials and development packages for industry-facing use.

Work is offered on a fixed-scope basis, remotely, and tailored to the specific needs of each project.

OUR PROCESS

    SCRIPT DEVELOPMENT

    Development-led work on feature film scripts and selected television projects. This includes in-depth script notes, structural work, and ongoing development across drafts, with the aim of strengthening story, character, tone and dramatic shape.

    Script development can take place as a single stage or across multiple drafts, depending on where the script is in its development and what is needed to move it forward.

    PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

    Hands-on development support for projects from early concept through to pitch-ready or production-ready stage. This includes shaping the project as a whole, clarifying creative direction, and developing material in a way that supports pitching, funding and next steps toward production.

    This service is suited to producers or creative teams developing projects over time, rather than seeking isolated feedback.

    DEVELOPMENT MATERIALS

    Development and preparation of pitch decks, written pitches and supporting materials for funding, markets and industry meetings. This includes shaping the project’s narrative, clarifying tone and positioning, and developing a clear visual identity and visual language for presentation and pitching.

    Work may include both content and design direction, strengthening how a project is communicated visually as well as editorially, whether developing materials from scratch or refining existing documents.

    CREATIVE ADVISORY

    Focused development input at key decision points in the development process. This service is for projects that require experienced development judgement rather than full script or project development.

    Creative advisory may include second-opinion feedback, targeted story or structural input, or support in clarifying development direction before pitching, funding applications or further development work. This service is typically short-form and time-limited.
